Depressive Symptoms Across Age Groups

Parents or caregivers may also notice changes in appetite or sleep patterns, or difficulty concentrating. A lesser-known symptom of depression in children is frequent tantrums or meltdowns. Children who have frequent tantrums may be struggling to cope with their feelings of depression or express it appropriately.

Our Approach to Depression Therapy

Our therapists use cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT) to assist you or your loved one with gaining greater confidence in coping with and managing depressive thoughts and feelings. CBT is a highly effective treatment approach that will help you to feel better by developing skills to identify and challenge negative thought pattern and behaviors that are contributing to your symptoms of depression. We help your child overcome depression by working with both you and your child and you to support your child through the process of  . Through the use of play, art, and creative activities, your child will learn age-appropriate coping skills and emotional regulation strategies. Our therapists also work extensively with parents and teachers to implement strategies to further support the child at home and at school. Using play, art, and creative activities, we teach children coping skills and strategies for regulating their emotions that are just right for their age. We also work closely with you, and your child’s teachers if needed, to develop strategies that support your child both at home and in school, ensuring they benefit from a complete network of support.
